The In-Between Project Time: Rest, Reflection, and Reset

As a creative entrepreneur, the work never truly stops. Whether designing, painting murals, or building out the next project, my mind is always moving. It’s a blessing and a challenge—constantly creating, dreaming, and strategizing. But what happens in between? The quiet moments between one big project and the next? That’s where the real magic happens.

In those moments, I step back. I get outside, breathe in fresh air, and reconnect with nature. I dive into health—fueling my body, moving with intention, and giving myself space to recharge. Prayer becomes my anchor, guiding me to clarity and purpose. I refocus using my Vida Planner, mapping out what the last week and month have looked like and preparing for what’s to come. Rise and hustle is just as important as rest and reset.

Entrepreneurs know the 24/7 grind all too well. The business is always on our minds—new ideas, next steps, refining what’s already been built. If we don’t create tools to pause, we burn out. It’s the creator’s blessing and curse. That’s why I’ve learned to build intentional moments of stillness into my life.

Then there’s the family rhythm—because being a mother and entrepreneur go hand in hand. My kids see how I carve out time for myself, and in turn, they learn the importance of balance. I communicate with them, sharing what I’m working on. They’re used to the unpredictability of our schedule, the curveballs of entrepreneurship, but we have our non-negotiables—the daily rituals that ground us.

Every day, we make our beds, eat breakfast together, pray on the road, and listen to worship music. We talk about our upcoming projects—not just mine, but theirs too. What are we all working toward? It’s powerful to hear their perspectives—our youngest, full of curiosity, and our preteen, stepping into his own understanding of purpose. We get excited, talk over each other at times, but that’s part of our rhythm. I’m the keeper of “one person at a time,” ensuring that everyone is heard and valued.

Beyond projects and schedules, we’re learning about respecting space—our home, our rooms, our pets, and each other’s emotions. It’s not “you vs. me,” it’s you vs. you—learning to grow, self-reflect, and take ownership of our energy. Some days, we don’t feel like talking after a long practice, a mural install, or an exhausting creative sprint. That’s okay. Silence is just as valuable as conversation.

But when we’re on, we’re all in. We celebrate both the big wins and the small moments. We pray over our work and trust that faith will guide the rest. Because at the end of the day, success isn’t just about what we build—it’s about how we live in the spaces between.
